I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Smithtown and I provide counseling and psychotherapy to individuals from all areas on Long Island.
I’d like you to think of this as the first step. Today you are one step closer to living the life you want and feeling empowered and on a positive path. My goal is to develop an authentic therapeutic relationship with you while providing a safe, non-judgmental and nurturing environment.
I offer both Counseling and Psychotherapy. What’s the difference between the two?
Counseling is generally short-term treatment used to achieve personal and professional goals.
Psychotherapy is generally longer-term during which time underlying issues that get in the way of current satisfaction and happiness are explored.
My Approach & Style
Each session will focus entirely on YOU. I take time to assess each individual so that I can truly understand long and short-term goals and needs. My approach is client centered, interactive and collaborative with an emphasis on understanding your emotional needs, improving communication skills and providing practical solutions to life’s challenges. My style is very engaging. Not only does it incorporate active listening, but also a ready sense of humor.
I integrate a number of theories and techniques into my practice and find it very helpful to focus on patterns and themes that emerge repeatedly across people’s lives. Primarily cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy is used although I incorporate techniques from many traditions such as solution focused, gestalt, and mindfulness techniques so as to provide flexibility. My goal is to help you understand what has shaped your life today and how to resolve your personal challenges.
If this sounds good to you, let’s go.
